SCHWEGO® wett 6291

Wetting and dispersing additive for water- and solvent-based coating systems

Chemical base:   Blend of an anionic active substances and a polymer

Properties:   SCHWEGO wett 6291 is in use in water-based and solvent-based paint systems. SCHWEGO wett 6291 shortens milling time, as pigment agglomerates are ruptured and stabilised effectively. SCHWEGO wett 6291 minimises rub-out troubles by improving the compatilibity between paint and pigment pastes. SCHWEGO wett 6291 reduce the surface tension from water-based formulations and improve the levelling and wetting of the substrates. In solvent-based alkyd systems SCHWEGO wett 6291 has no influence at the drying time from the paint.

Applications:   SCHWEGO wett 6291 can be used to disperse inorganic and organic pigments. It is suitable in solvent-based alkyd formulations, water-based dispersion- and emulsion systems  and pigment pastes.

Technical data:
(Guide values)
  Appearance : colourless, clear liquid
Density (ISO 2811-1) : 1,07 g/cm³
Flash point (ISO 1523) : > 100 °C
Non volatile content (ISO 3251): 67 %

Processing:   In order to achieve an optimum result, it is necessary to add SCHWEGO wett 6291 to the system before pigment milling. The amount of addition is 1.0 – 10.0 % if inorganic pigments, and 10.0 – 30.0 % if organic pigments are used, calculated on the pigment content. Calculated on alkyd formulations and dispersion systems the dosage is between 0.2% - 1.5%. To improve the levelling and the wetting on the substrate SCHWEGO wett 6291 should be added around 0.5% calculated on formulation.

Storage:   Do not store SCHWEGO wett 6291 at temperatures below 10 °C. Stir it up before use. Keep it in a cool, well-ventilated place. Subject to appropriate storage, the described properties of SCHWEGO wett 6291 remain stable for at least 24 months, provided the original container is closed after use.

Pakaging:   50/175 kg drum
