New eco-friendly fluorotensid-additives |

Environmental aspects caused company Bernd Schwegmann GmbH & Co. KG to reengineer their product portfolio of fluoro-tensids. The company is pleased to offer three new types of fluoro-additives which are based on modern, environmental friendly “short-chain”-technology [F(CF2)nn≤6] and therefore cannot release PFOS or PFOA.
These new fluoro-products are offered to the market for waterborne and solvent-based systems. From January 2012 on they will replace the well-known “SCHWEGO fluor”-additives.

SCHWEGO® fluor EL 2311 - now: SCHWEGO® fluor 6523
SCHWEGO® fluor EL 3711 - now: SCHWEGO® fluor 6537

On 29th February 2012 the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published the first Community rolling action plan (CoRAP). In many cases the list contains substances, with these properties: potential persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic, disruption of the endocrine, or carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic to reproduction. Further criteria are wide dispersion or utilization of these substances.
Bernd Schwegmann GmbH & Co. KG actively communicates relevant information of our products. Therefore we have to inform you that our coating additive SCHWEGO® fluor 6537 contains a substance which is according to CoRaP suspected as PBT (Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic). Product stewardship is an important step towards improving the level of health and environmental protection.
For this reason precautionary we withdraw SCHWEGO® fluor 6537 from our product range.
